GFU Has Best Finish in Schools History
George Fox University began their season hosting their annual NCAA D3 event at Westbrook Village Golf Club Lakes Course. There season came to a close posting their highest finish in four NCAA Division III Women’s Golf National Championship appearances, the George Fox University Bruins finished fourth as a team, with No. 1 player Kelsey Morrison taking second individually, as the four-day tournament drew to a close Friday at the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort’s Baytowne course (FL).
George Fox finished with a 324 on Friday on the par-72, 5,831-yard course for a final score of 319-304-320-324=1267. The University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (306-311-311-311=1239) took home the first-place trophy, ending a 13-year run of championships by Methodist University, with the University of Texas-Tyler (309-308-318-312=1247) finishing second. Methodist (318-313-317-311=1259) put on a strong run at the end to overtake the Bruins for third.
