Our own club professional, Brandon Evans, recently won the 2014 Southwest Section PGA Yamaha Match Play Championship. The championship was held at Vistal Golf Club July 21st-23rd. The event is considered one of the Southwest Section PGA Majors and consists of the top professionals from Arizona and Nevada. Evans played 6 rounds of golf, one qualifier and five matches, in route to his victory. While representing Westbrook Village Golf Club, Evans defeated Larry Mackin of Leisure World (Round 1 - 3 and 1), David Fisher of McCormick Ranch (Round 2 - 5 and 4), Luke Hemelstrand of Desert Mountain (Quarter Finals - 20 Holes), Mike Wright of Verde Sante Fe (Semi Finals - 5 and 4), and Mark Leibfried of Cottonwood Country Club (Championship - 5 and 4).
