Aerification is an essential maintenance task we undertake every year to ensure the health and quality of our greens at both golf courses. This summer, given the record number of rounds played, it's especially crucial to address issues of compaction and wear. Hollow tine aerification will be used to alleviate thatch buildup and soil compaction, which are vital for maintaining the greens' health throughout the year.

During this process, we will also apply a thin layer of sand to the greens to enhance their smoothness and overall quality.

Please note the following closure dates for maintenance: The Vistas GC will be closed from June 24 to July 14, and The Lakes GC will be closed from July 15 to July 28. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our courses in top condition.

Tee Box, Driving  Range Leveling, and Bunker Sand
During the closure of Vistas GC, we will undertake significant enhancements to the main driving range tee, along with the white tees at Vistas #2 and Vistas #8. These areas will be expanded, leveled, and freshly sodded to ensure optimal playability and aesthetics. Concurrently, we will be upgrading many of the bunkers by adding several inches of new sand. This project has already commenced and will continue throughout the summer.

Similarly, The Lakes GC will also receive bunker enhancements, with new sand being added during its closure period. These improvements are part of our commitment to provide the best possible conditions for all players. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we carry out these necessary upgrades to enhance your golfing experience.

Light Dethatching
During the closure of both golf courses, we will also conduct light dethatching of the fairways. This process is essential as it allows water to penetrate the soil more effectively, enhancing the effectiveness of our monthly soil slicing activities throughout the year. Improved water infiltration helps to reduce surface wetness and minimize evaporation, critical factors in maintaining the fairways.

These maintenance practices, combined with our routine fertilization program, are designed to create optimal conditions for healthy grass growth. By fostering such an environment, we aim to maintain some of the healthiest and most resilient turf in the area. As summer progresses, our schedule will be particularly busy. In addition to the specialized projects like aerification and leveling, our routine maintenance activities will continue at full pace. This includes regular mowing and the trimming of over 3,000 shrubs, among other ongoing duties.
