We're making great progress at Westbrook and with the reopening of the Vistas Course just around the corner, we wanted to share an update on our overseeding, Golf Shop renovations, and a few special sales while both courses are closed.

Overseeding Update – The Courses Are Looking Great!

Both courses are currently closed for our annual overseeding, and we're happy to report that things are progressing nicely.

The Vistas Course is already looking very green, and the new winter ryegrass is off to an excellent start. We experienced a little rain at the beginning of the Vistas overseed, much like we're seeing now at the Lakes. Fortunately, temperatures have been very favorable for winter ryegrass germination and growth.

Vistas Course Reopens Saturday, October 17!

We're excited to welcome everyone back to the Vistas Course this Saturday! 

As in previous years, the course will be CART PATH ONLY for at least the first week of play.

While the new grass may look beautiful and established, it will only be approximately three weeks old when we reopen. Its root system is still developing, and protecting it from cart traffic during these early stages is extremely important.

Once we reopen, our Golf Course Maintenance team will be able to better evaluate how the new turf responds to regular play and determine when we can safely begin allowing carts onto the fairways.

We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation. A little extra care now will go a long way toward providing excellent playing conditions for the months ahead.

Vistas Golf Shop Renovation – Almost Finished!

If you've stopped by the Vistas recently, you may have noticed quite a bit of activity inside the Golf Shop or perhaps how empty it's been!

We've been taking advantage of the overseeding closure to complete a much-needed renovation, and we're excited about how everything is coming together.

What makes this project particularly special is that nearly all of the work has been completed in-house by our own talented staff.

Keith and Drew have done an outstanding job patching and painting the facility, replacing the outdated overhead lighting with modern, energy-efficient LED fixtures, and giving the entire space a fresh new look.

Behind the scenes, we've also made some substantial technology improvements. We've replaced decades-old communications wiring with modern Cat6 cabling, upgraded our networking infrastructure, and modernized our security cameras and alarm system, replacing equipment that had served us for well over a decade.

By handling these improvements ourselves rather than contracting out the work, we've been able to accomplish a substantial renovation at a fraction of what it would otherwise have cost the Club. It's a great example of the talent, versatility, and dedication we have on our team, and I'm incredibly appreciative of the work everyone has put into this project.

We're now entering the final stage: new carpeting, which is scheduled to be installed this week. We did bring in professionals for this portion, although Keith and Drew are keeping a close eye on the process as they prepare to tackle the locker room carpeting themselves down the road!

Once the carpet is installed, we'll have a quick turnaround to move the merchandise, displays, equipment, and fixtures back into place in time for Saturday's reopening.

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone into a refreshed Vistas Golf Shop, and I'm especially proud that so much of it was accomplished by our own team!

Looking Ahead

It's always exciting to see the courses transition from their summer Bermudagrass to the beautiful green winter ryegrass that makes our Arizona winter golf season so enjoyable.

Between the overseeding, Golf Shop renovation, and ongoing infrastructure improvements, there's been a tremendous amount of work taking place behind the scenes.

I want to thank our Golf Course Grounds team, Facilities team and our Golf Shop staff for their hard work throughout this process, and thank all of you for your patience while we prepare for another wonderful winter season at Westbrook.
