Reliable Water for the Future of the Vistas Golf Course
Westbrook Golf Club is moving forward with the installation of a replacement irrigation well to help ensure a dependable, long-term water supply for the Vistas Golf Course.
Project Overview
Our existing well is approximately 80 years old and, while still operational, is nearing the point where replacement planning is necessary. By addressing this infrastructure now, the club is taking a proactive and forward-thinking approach toward future golf course improvements, including a modern irrigation system and other long-range enhancement projects that require a reliable source of water.
The new replacement water supply well will be located between the Vistas Hole #6 White Tee and the perimeter wall to the south. The project is necessary to replace the existing Vistas well and help assure the physical supply of irrigation water to the golf course.
The location was selected because it meets Arizona’s requirement to be within 660 feet of the existing well, while also remaining close to the road, existing irrigation infrastructure, and positioned as thoughtfully as possible between surrounding residents.
Once drilled and tested, the new well will be tied into the existing irrigation distribution system.
Project Highlights
- Replacement irrigation well
- Located near Vistas #6 White Tee
- Approx. 1,000 feet deep
- 20-inch diameter bore
- Estimated 2,200 GPM capacity
- Expected operational by late 2026
Why This Project Matters
Water Reliability
Protects the long-term irrigation water supply for the Vistas Golf Course.
Course Conditions
Supports healthy turf, playability, and consistent golf course conditions.
Long-Range Planning
Serves as the first step in a broader plan to modernize golf course infrastructure.
Construction Information
Construction activities will create some dust and noise in the immediate work area. Dust will be managed in accordance with the approved Dust Control Permit.
To help minimize noise, sound walls will be installed between the drill site and neighboring homes. The work area will also be secured to prevent unauthorized access and address safety concerns.
Some work may occur during nighttime hours. Every effort will be made to minimize disruption to surrounding residents and golf course play.
Permits & Professional Oversight
All required permits will be obtained prior to work, including:
- Well Drilling Permit – Arizona Department of Water Resources
- Discharge Permit – Arizona Department of Environmental Quality
- Dust Control Permit – Maricopa County
Clear Creek Associates will document well construction, development, and final testing. Empire Pump and Arizona Beeman’s Drilling are also involved in the project.
