Westbrook Invitational Practice Rounds Started!

The Westbrook Invitational, proudly hosted by the University of Wisconsin, is officially underway! The course is buzzing with practice rounds, and the main event tees off tomorrow, running through Monday.

If this is your first time at the Westbrook Invitational, you’re in for an unforgettable long weekend of top-tier NCAA women’s golf! This year, we’re excited to welcome 14 elite teams, with over 200 enthusiastic volunteers—members and residents alike—helping make this event a spectacular success.

What to Watch For:

  • Kansas, last year’s team champions, return to defend their title, currently ranked #25 in the nation!
  • K-State, currently ranked #30 in the nation, brings Carla Bernat, ranked 25th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, with an impressive 70.53 scoring average—keep an eye on her!
  • South Florida is coming in hot after a season-best team score of 855 (-9) at the PDI Intercollegiate, where freshman standout Cherry Marley earned AAC Golfer of the Week honors.
  • Defending individual champion Chloe Chan of Wisconsin returns after dominating last year’s event at -14. Can she go back-to-back?
  • 2015 champion AJ Newell is back—not as a player, but as the head coach of South Florida, bringing experience and championship pedigree to her squad.

🌞 Perfect weather, world-class golf, and non-stop excitement—what more could you ask for?

📣 Spectators are welcome! Come watch some of the best collegiate golfers battle it out for the title. Don’t miss this incredible chance to see the future stars of golf right here at Westbrook

Golf Cart Policy for the Event

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone:

  • ✅ Saturday: Personal carts are allowed on the Vistas Course for those wishing to follow the teams.
  • 🚫 Sunday & Monday (until 2 PM): Only carts designated for volunteers and coaches will be permitted on the Vistas Course.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in making this a fantastic event for all!

How the Tournament Works

This NCAA event consists of four rounds: one practice round and three competition rounds. Here’s what to expect:

  • Saturday (Practice Round): Teams will tee off from holes 1 & 10 between 9:00 – 10:30 AM and will spend the day practicing at the Vistas Course.
  • Sunday (36 Holes): The competition officially begins with an 8:30 AM shotgun start. Players will compete in two consecutive rounds (36 holes), wrapping up just before sunset.
  • Monday (Final Round & Awards): The final 18-hole round begins at 8:30 AM and is expected to conclude around 1:30 PM, followed by the awards ceremony somewhere between 1:30pm and 2:30pm.

Understanding NCAA Golf Scoring

NCAA golf tournaments feature both team and individual competitions happening simultaneously. This year live scoring will be provided by Scoreboard powered by clippd and can be accessed at westbrookgolf.com/uw or the official clippd page

Team Scoring
Each team consists of five players, but only the best four scores count towards the team total for each round (the worst score is dropped).

Example Team Round Score:

  • Player 1: 72
  • Player 2: 74
  • Player 3: 70
  • Player 4: 75
  • Player 5: 78 (dropped as the high score)
    Team Score for the Round: 72 + 74 + 70 + 75 = 291
At the end of the tournament, the team with the lowest total score over three rounds wins!

Individual Scoring
Each player competes for their own individual score, including any extra players teams bring just for the individual competition. The player with the lowest score over 54 holes is crowned the individual champion.

This weekend promises to be an incredible showcase of talent, competition, and community spirit. In the past we had a NCAA & course record of 61 shot by Anna Zanusso (2020).  Whether you’re following your favorite teams, volunteering, or enjoying the atmosphere, get ready for an unforgettable Westbrook Invitational because these players are Good!

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of our members for your incredible restraint regarding tee-time limitations this weekend. Your cooperation allowed us to accommodate every request even without the need for a Sunday double shotgun. Monday is another story, we were able get everyone on the tee sheet however a few groups are in the 2:45pm shotgun at the Vistas.

This is a wonderful opportunity to watch some amazing golf at the Vistas Course this weekend. Thank you again for your assistance in making this a great weekend!

Get to know University of Wisconsin Coach Todd Oehrlein who is in his 22nd year of coaching the Badgers. Todd has been officially having this event for 13 years, but they have been coming to Westbrook since 2005. There is a very strong following of Todd and his athletes. One great guy who always has a great group of players!
